Eletrotec+EM Power South America Conference: Electrical infrastructure and energy management for buildings and industries in the spotlight

Press Release – Tuesday, July 30, 2024

São Paulo/Pforzheim, July 30, 2024: The Eletrotec+EM Power conference addresses electrical infrastructure and energy management for buildings and industries. The 2024 edition is structured around three main axes: updates on technical standards, protection against atmospheric discharges, and medium and low voltage installation topics. These are cross-cutting engineering themes that apply to photovoltaic systems as well as energy storage systems and to charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.

In the area of technical standardisation, members of ABNT study commissions present on the first day their work on standards that are under revision or in public consultation. Two recently completed draft standards are worth highlighting: the first on fire prevention for photovoltaic generators installed in buildings; the other deals with protection against electric arcs and the incident energy.

The second day is dedicated to protection against atmospheric discharges, a topic of paramount importance in Brazil, where 78 million lightning strikes occur every year, causing more than 800 deaths in the last decade. The lectures address topics such as the protection of photovoltaic systems, application and monitoring of surge protection devices, as well as grounding issues for photovoltaic plants.

The third day of the conference features four sessions on LV/MV installations, with an emphasis on the performance of building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) systems, a technology that is still in its infancy in Brazil but has immense potential. Other sessions deal with shock protection measures, adherence to labour safety regulations, as well as energy storage equipment maintenance issues, which are essential to ensure the reliability of these systems.

The conference was curated by Aranda in co-operation with the Mi Omega Institute.

About Eletrotec+EM-Power South America – The Event for Electrical Infrastructure and Energy Management

Eletrotec+EM-Power South America is the event for electrical infrastructure and energy management. It will take place at the Expo Center Norte in São Paulo, Brazil, on August 27–29, 2024. The exhibition focuses on technologies for electrical energy distribution as well as services and software solutions for energy management at grid, utility or building level.

In 2023, Eletrotec+EM-Power South America welcomed around 50,000 visitors and more than 80 providers that showcased their products.

The exhibition unites professionals and companies in the areas of design, assembly and maintenance of electrical infrastructure, reaching from distributed generation with renewable sources to aerial and underground distribution networks to transforming substations, street lighting, industrial and building facilities.

Eletrotec+EM-Power South America will be held in parallel to Intersolar South America, LATAM's largest exhibition and conference for the solar industry, ees South America, LATAM’s key event for batteries & energy storage systems, and Power2Drive South America, the LATAM’s key exhibition and conference for charging infrastructure and e-mobility. All four exhibitions are part of The smarter E South America

Organizers: Eletrotec+EM-Power South America is organized by Solar Promotion International GmbH, Pforzheim, Freiburg Management and Marketing International GmbH (FMMI) and Aranda Eventos & Congressos Ltda, São Paulo as the co-organizer.
