The panel addresses the use of electrification technologies to promote decarbonization and foster a greener economy. It consists of two parts. The first part discusses the decarbonization of transport systems, including case studies on the transition of last-mile logistics fleets in Brazil. The second part is presented by PotencializEE and covers the use of electrical heat pumps in the food and beverage industry, highlighting innovative approaches to reducing GHG emissions and enhancing energy efficiency. The panel is presented by the project "Sector Coupling and Green Economy (AcoplaRE)", developed within the Brazil-Germany Cooperation for Sustainable Development. AcoplaRE is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in cooperation with the Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) and financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). AcoplaRE seeks to contribute to making urban transport and industry in Brazil more climate neutral, environmentally friendly and socially just. PotencializEE, the "Programa Investimentos Transformadores de Eficiência Energética na Indústria", aims to promote Energy Efficiency in industrial SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) in Brazil. PotencializEE is led by MME and implemented by GIZ with funding from the Mitigation Action Facility, a multi-donor initiative for sectorial decarbonisation.

Abigail Ross Hopper is the President and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association, the national trade organization for America's solar energy industries. She oversees all of SEIA's activities, including government affairs, research, communications, and industry leadership, and is focused on creating a marketplace where solar will constitute a significant percentage of America's energy generation. Before joining SEIA, Abby served as Director of the Department of Interior's Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, the Director of the Maryland Energy Administration (MEA), Energy Advisor to Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley, and Deputy General Counsel with the Maryland Public Service Commission. Before embarking on a career in public service, Abby spent nine years in private practice. Abby graduated Cum Laude from the University of Maryland School of Law and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Dartmouth College. She is the very proud mom of three children and loves to read and ride on her Peloton.
